The Jealousy Flower Show (aka Judging Withers)
Some thoughts about the different flowers
They’re not alike…their garden powers
Vary … some are in the shade
While others for the sun are made
But we’re not flowers us humankind
Our strength exists within our mind
And colour it must not determine
Who’s classed as good, or who is vermin
In fact judgement surface deep
Will only ever make us weep
Forever into lonely pillow
For a debt we alone will owe
Because our selfishness and greed
Forgot common ancestral seed
Sweeping away ancient credit
Thinking success could be bred. It
was our own, this fleur-de-lis
We cut the roots of family tree
Because we only want the stem
Of some of us, and none of them
With artifice of Genesis
(Natural selection’s nemesis)
But we can’t choose or pre-ordain
To be atop of the food chain
And though you limply say “let us
Forget union, make no fuss
We do not like trees stand together
Because apart, we’ll find out whether
It will be you or I who thrive”
Forgetting neither can survive
Unfortunate the diagnosis
That disregards our symbiosis
